I think we could all use a little pick-me-up right about now.
We’re in the midst of some really hard times, and it’s no surprise that a lot of us are struggling to find some levity in our everyday lives.
“Avoid social media and fuck off into the woods for a walk.”
“Think about someone who had a huge positive influence in your life (you’ll not even notice how an elusive smile appears on your face).”
“Laugh. Laughing for a certain period of time can trick your brain into thinking that you are happy. You can laugh like a maniac if you would like to.”
“Put on a brand new pair of socks.”
“Start a list. Write down one new thing you’re grateful for. It can be something as small as the mesh office chair you’re sitting in right now, so your butt ain’t all swampy.”
“One really effective method is to write a heartfelt note to someone who means a lot to you and has positively impacted your life, then hand-deliver it to the person.”
“Whisper ‘Beep Boop.’ Plug your nose and say ‘Sneep Snoop.’ Say ‘Boopedeedoop’ in a really deep voice. Try and say ‘Bubbles’ in the angriest voice you can. Repeat the ones you like until you’re not sad.”
“If you spell the word ‘HEADACHE’ out loud quickly and in a kind of singsong voice, it kind of rhymes and sounds silly. The ‘e’ at the end usually makes your voice lilt upwards. It makes me giggle.”
“When I’m feeling super down and lethargic, 9/10 times if I drink a huge cup of water I start feeling a million times better right away.”
“Watch Family Guy right after smoking a huge blunt.”
“Do some light exercise. A walk, a jog, or even just some jumping jacks. It releases endorphins and will improve your mood and reduce stress.”
“Make a mental picture about a place that makes you happy and picture yourself walking through it.”
And finally, “masturbate.”
