Video Game Addict To $400,000 /month E-Com Entrepreneur

Hi everyone it’s Sam Evans here and today I’ve got Connor shelf on Chuck who is from a who’s a student in the consulting accelerator program and Connors got an awesome story I think it’s probably the most transformational story that I’ve done in these interviews so far so about a year ago Connor was living paycheck to paycheck working a nine-to-five job and you know he didn’t have a business or anything and he joined the consulting accelerator program and it’s been about one year since then and now he’s been able to start his own consulting business helping ecommerce businesses get will grow and get customers with digital marketing specifically Facebook heads and he’s gone from you know living paycheck to paycheck working to and just last month in April his business did $400,000 in sales and of around $200,000 in profit which is awesome well first of all congrats on that that is probably the most I’ve seen someone grow in one year thanks yeah it’s been an insane change I’m still trying to trying to adjust to the the difference and I mean everything now I exactly as you said I went from living paycheck to paycheck where I didn’t really know what to expect next month you know having a budget you know can I afford to go for dinner can I afford to you know not work on the weekend or something like that – straight – consistent profit every single day now which is just you know I feel completely in control of everything I’m doing and it’s just anytime I want to scale now I can just keep scaling people a Ferrari it no actually that’s a funny thing because I was going to buy a Lamborghini one of it one of the big goals I had was got to make money because I want to buy a Lamborghini dream car and now it’s like the more I’m making money the more I’m realizing you can’t spend can’t spend money on stuff like that so usually we will make that much money they do something stupid like that yeah I when I made my first hundred grand I went and bought it I lent a Ferrari yeah and there pretty much everyone I noted that – it’s that’s why I asked yeah as soon as they started making it first thing I did was I looked online how much they are and I had to convince myself not to good point so let’s jump in and let’s talk about this you know how this all happened and how this came to be so explain to me what your situation was like you know a year ago when you were living paycheck to paycheck what was going on back then and why were you interested in changing and starting a business um so about a year ago I worked a cleaning job and I mean it sucked I cleaned toilets that clean offices I clean desks stuff like that basically at an office that I had basically the office I worked at was like an office that I’d always always dreamed of running and I always saw myself there cleaning other people’s desks cleaning the CEOs desk cleaning you know the bathrooms and stuff like that and then I also worked I worked a warehouse job where I’d worked night shift from like p.m.

To a.m. sometimes 12-hour shifts and all of it really sucked it really sucked I was putting in a lot of work to not make a whole lot of money and and slowly over time I started to realize that I’m willing to put in this much work to make less money so why why couldn’t I shift you know putting that amount of work into my own business and then ultimately making way more money so it was kind of a kind of realization that I’m already working this hard why not focus it on something that can you know make way more than I’m making right now and give me way more freedom than I have right now so there after a few years it came to the point in time where it’s just that realization out of the blue it’s like you know why am I doing this how old are you I am 24 I just turned 24 nice CEO 23 back then yeah it’s 23 when I was doing that yeah from from like 19 to 23 was basically when I would work between cleaning and warehouse work and stuff like that and then you know how did you come across the consulting accelerator program and find that and decide that that was what you wanted to do it was funny because I came across it a long time ago actually I guess probably about two years ago I’m not sure how far back it was but I’d say probably about two years ago I started seeing ads maybe you’re gonna have something like that the first time I saw it I was like why would I ever pay money you know why would I ever pay that kind of money to to get a program I’m not gonna do that it’s not gonna it’s just you know some some cash grab that’s not gonna do anything for me and stuff like that and there was there’s no real point in doing it and the more I got into running my own business and trying to learn and trying to progress I started to realize that you know people like yourself paying paying that kind of money is gonna save me a ridiculous amount of time and that’s essentially what it did so when I came across it the first time I was like this is stupid I’m not gonna do it you know it’s just a cash grab and then the more the more I learned how much work it was and how much I really had to learn and how I had to really change my life in order to to do what I wanted to do I started to realize more and more that that’s probably something that would be a very good investment and I mean it turned out to be probably the best the best investment I’ve ever made so definitely was worth it awesome and then taught me through like what happened off after joining so you you just joined you like you’re locking in you’re going through that what were the next stages when I first joined I joined basically on the basis that I always thought everything was was technical everything you know you had to learn new technical skills you had to be better with with marketing and stuff like that my entire goal when I first joined was be better at Facebook Ads be better at you know funnels or something like that so when I first joined the first thing I did was very very day one and I remember this it was like you can only you can only go through the first week of the program I’m like man I don’t want to do this like I’m just gonna I’m gonna refund the program I don’t want to have to wait five weeks until I get to the technical side of things so when I first got on I don’t even think I touched any videos for like the first two weeks of joining and finally one day I had a really bad I had a really bad video game addiction and it was really it was really starting to well I had ruined my life majorly in the past which was one of the reasons I was in the situation that I was in and then slowly as I started to you know get more into the videos on week one and then see what other people were saying inside the community and and even just reading like some of the transcripts from the videos I started to understand that you know maybe my mindset was more what was wrong than the actual technical thing so I think it took me about two weeks of not watching any videos before I finally decided to just jump in watch the first few videos I think I was actually on a bus going up like on an eight hour bus ride so I threw it on my throat on my phone put some headphones in and started watching the first few videos and then from that moment on I just got hooked on hooked on mindset hooked on changing my life and realizing that I had I had a lot of really good technical skills and it wasn’t the technical skills that were going to get me farther it was changing myself as a person that was going to get me farther and what do you mean by that why did you need it change as a person well like I mentioned I had a really bad really bad video game addiction like I now realized that it was probably worse than work very similar to like a really bad drug addiction where it was just it was something that was so toxic and it was taking up so much time in my life and I had never really in the past found how to control it or how to stop it like you would I would try and just stop cold turkey like stop cut it out altogether and that wouldn’t work I’d end up falling back into it so the more I realized that what I was doing at that point in time wasn’t working the more I realized I had to find something else that would help work and then as I got into the mindset videos I started to realize that everything that I was trying was was really uneffective but some of the stuff that’s that’s taught in the mindset sections is exactly what I needed so the more I the more I started trying things the more I started realizing that the mindset work was really working well for me and then I just started getting crazy into it so video game addiction a bad one what does that mean like why was that destructive it was destructive in a way babe because some days I would play video games for sixteen hours in a day and it was really tell you well I played like I played xbox I played I got really big into PC gaming I would play like mmm like online multiplayer games RPG games and stuff like that so I it was it is the the weirdest thing because I was so obsessed with being the best in these games and making the most amount of money you know virtual money in the game but I couldn’t do that in my real life so it was it was the weirdest situation because I’d have no problem committing 16 hours to making virtual money in a game but I couldn’t he you know do that my realize it was it was I don’t know it was such a bad you know obstruction in my life that I had to figure out how to do it so yeah some days 16 hours I work eight hours and then I wouldn’t even sleep I can’t even can’t even name the amount of nights that I was up till 11 o’clock in the morning and then I’d sleep for two hours and go to work for for eight hours or four hours or whatever so it was it was super toxic got it and so in starting to when trying to start your own business we still the video games were still taking up too much time that you couldn’t put it into the business yeah exactly so you know I’d work for one hour on a business and then I get that urge to you know just take a break you know you’d have that inner voice telling you take a break you know you’ve done an hour of work you’ve put work in go take a break and then I’d convince myself I’d be like yeah you know what I’ve worked hard for an hour I’ll play you know video games for an hour and then it wouldn’t be an hour it would be eight hours and then the whole day would go by and then I’d go to bed like okay well work on the business tomorrow and then same thing would happen tomorrow and it was just day after day after day over and over and over you look back at the hours I’d probably wasted you know 2,000 hours of just randomly playing video games as opposed to working on the business which is what I should have been doing it’s funny when you look at it now though because all of a sudden you just made like 400 grand a month yeah it’s the same it’s the same tendency cuz I have it too it’s in it like an addictive personality you like I used to play for your games ages ago when I was a kid played counter-strike yeah didn’t sleep and I would like I set up a LAN in my house I would like I’d play like I’d run home after school and play like I’d stay up all night and then if I wasn’t playing I’d watch videos of people playing it and then and looking back at it it was like that was you could say that’s a waste of time and stuff because it wasn’t that constructive but it taught me how to get good at something you know like it’s all the same like how do you get good and business is trial and error and practice yeah how do you get good at a game trial era practice yeah and so in a way that probably has helped you a lot that now you have a you have a you’ve put that same that same like level of obsession and passion into the business you know what I mean yeah you know it just had to there had to be a shift of priority from putting that much work from video games into putting that much work in a business and as soon as I did that they the results literally went from making almost nothing to doing 400 grand in a month like like no issue and I mean it’s two days into this month and I’ve already done thirty thousand dollars in the first two days in the month and I you know putting all of that work from video games into business is it was it was hard to do but definitely the obsession from video games has definitely helped to business but the transition was where the difficulty was because you’re probably still you know you’re probably addicted to business oh yeah exactly yeah instead of being addicted to making virtual money now I’m addicted to to building a real business and making real money nice so I definitely understand it a lot of the people I’ve met who are really good at business did they have the same thing like obsessive you know it’s like they don’t want to go to sleep they don’t want to eat they don’t want to do anything that isn’t this and they’ve got to kind of force themselves to yeah yeah yeah yeah I have to be I have to control myself now because just like I would play video games to 6 o’clock in the morning now it’s like I’m up working on you know new ads or something until 4 o’clock in the morning so I have to like force myself to go to sleep now just like I did before so walk me through how you chose your niche like why e-comm and how did you come to that decision well ecommerce was always something that I was really interested in so I’ve been kind of like dabbling and I guess you could say in the e-commerce industry for quite a few years I probably four or five years now easily but it was never really something that I fully committed myself to so when I first joined the program and I got into consulting I was I was I was looking at all the other people who are like getting chiropractors and massage therapists and dentists and stuff like that and I was like that’s what I’m gonna do that’s where the money is you know I’m gonna do that everybody else seems to be so easy so I’m gonna go and do that so I started trying to do that you know I worked organically and stuff like that the more I did it the more I realized eh I have no idea what I’m doing when I’m talking to any of these people because I don’t understand their industry whatsoever so not only am I not only am I wasting my time by doing that cuz it’s not getting clients but I’m wasting up people’s you know an hour on a call because I don’t even know what I’m talking about half the time with the people I’m dealing with so after about a month of doing that back and forth I fell back to you know I’ve been in e-commerce for a few years I know the industry I’ve run stores before I’ve run my own store successfully or semi successfully I kind of know how it works so why not shift you know all of my focus onto just that because I do have a little bit of a history up in it I have been semi successful and before making a little bit of a passive income so I swapped from you know more of that general consultant and like digital marketer into something much more focused on something that I was a lot more passionate about and I knew a lot more about and I was able to to commit all of my time to that and that’s really the once again the switch to that was the results were just monumental from day basically day one of focusing on that everything too started to change right away once I knew once I honed in on exactly what I was passionate about and I had a lot of experience in got it and what what did you identify the problem to be for like ecommerce businesses a lot of it is just people don’t they don’t understand how to a pick products a lot of people you know they’re they’re on these websites where they’re trying to find popular products and stuff like that so they had a lot of concern with you know is my product good enough is my niche good enough are the products that I’m selling in my niche good enough and stuff like that so there was a lot of fear I am not really knowing how to research their products and if it’s gonna be profitable and that was kind of the first one then the second one was nobody really knew how to advertise for e-commerce because you know advertising when you’re your own brand already there was already established that’s really easy but starting up a brand and selling yourself you know selling your products as a brand who that nobody has seen before people didn’t really know how to do that it’s very hard to sell physical products to people who you know are they’ve never met your brand before they don’t they don’t have a trust for you they don’t really trust your website they don’t know if they’re gonna get their product stuff like that so those those really those two key things of you know is my niche good enough are my products good enough and then how do I bring in how do I make customers trust me that was kind of the real thing I was holding people back because at the end of the day I mean Facebook Ads you can learn Facebook Ads you can you can throw your products out there but until you actually create and establish this relationship with customers and know how to do that consistently over and over and over and over then you’re gonna have really spotty results with whatever ecommerce store you’re trying to start so that was really the key kind of entry point and then I mean there’s a lot of other stuff on top of it like marketing better I actually applied a lot of the the emotional side of marketing like causing irritants and people and stuff like that I never I never did that in the past which was why I really didn’t have much success in e-commerce but as soon as I started applying those emotional irritants just like you would sell you know a consulting service or a course or something like that I applied that to physical products and immediately same effect same effect as you know because people need products people need products they have an emotional or physical attachment to products and then you know you apply that to selling physical products and it works the same way so you don’t did you do the Weisberg’s taste I did yes you INTJ intp INTJ yeah first kiss yeah that’s right because you you will discount emotion so you know when you’re writing the copy you’re like all humans are perfectly logical it’s about emotion they will just weigh this up based on facts it’s how I do it – I might these people will just treat it like a court case right yeah like lying not lying but no humans are like there is a small segment of them the rational but a lot of them are just based on emotion yeah they want to like you trust you they want to feel all of these things before they buy so that’s that’s how I knew you know you were INTJ because you would have discounted that makes a huge difference when you rap and both with the lot like because some people go too much on emotion and they forget the rationale and some people go too far on the rationale and they forget the emotion I mean Kevin and boys its power yeah there’s definitely a fine line especially in physical products because people buy something there still is a factor of is this going to be useful for me on my day to day life like is it something that I need but there is also going to be an emotional factor so I had to find that that fine point between pointing out how well it works and what it does but not only doing that but also applying the emotional factor and I tell you once hey once I once I narrowed that down like I said I mean the explosion and the explosion and sales has just been phenomenal nice so you picked the niche you jumped in you found out what their problem was and then how did you decide what you were going to step in and sell like how how did you decide that and what it how did you craft your offer and what’s included in there well originally um there’s a lot of people out there who are kind of those gurus who try and get you you know they’re like my 10 step blueprint to making 6 or 7 figures right away I originally wanted to do something like that but I started to realize that it’s not it’s not something that you can teach so you can’t just teach somebody to make seven figures like in a month like all these these gurus are trying to to get people to do like you know here’s my five step guide to Facebook Ads to make seven figures a month that’s fine like you can teach people to make seven figures a month with with Facebook Ads that’s not it’s not something that’s not doable but people themselves like if you’re looking like myself who is the average everyday person who didn’t have a business background who didn’t have a marketing background and went into it there is no way you can give me a blueprint to do it but I can’t do it because I don’t have the experience I’m not going to recognize the patterns I’m not gonna recognize how to adapt to situations very quickly so I started to realize that selling something like that was not only it not only was it gonna not sell very well because it’s too hard to do but I’m also gonna get people really bad results because I can somebody brand-new off the street isn’t gonna go and make a six-figure store it’s just not going to happen they don’t have the experience to do it so what I started to realize was what I can do is I can start bringing people passive income through e-commerce because making an extra $50 a day $100 a day is very simple to view you only have to sell two three four products depending on what their price to do that so that is something that you can teach the average person who doesn’t have all those backgrounds so that is sort of what I’ve what I’ve crafted my offer off of now it’s not you know make seven figures in your first year of doing e-commerce it’s hey would you like to you know cut two days of your work time or two days of your nine-to-five job off because you’re able to make an extra hundred bucks a day passively through e-commerce so I’ve really tried to apply it to to myself like the average person like myself who got into it I just wanted to start making a hundred bucks a day when I got into it once I started making more I wanted to help people make more but I realized that I had gone through a year of transformation to be able to do that so that’s really how I slowly my offer went from making people tons of money to making people passive income and then slowly quitting their jobs and stuff like that and then growing farther and farther got it so your offer was it was is this done done for you or is this done through training ah this is done through training I did originally have it done for you program that I ran for about a month and I wasn’t really I wasn’t really a big fan of it just because you know when you build people websites and stuff like that they get really picky about it I don’t want to constantly be going back in and changing it so I’d rather trained them how to do it and then they can go in and and do you know do it to their heart’s content and then they feel like they’ve really accomplished it themselves so I’ve swapped from done for you to now training people to do and I’m working on a pretty big training program through videos to do it I’m hoping to get that out to people nice so then how did you you know how did you scale from like zero to like four hundred grand a month and it was strictly strictly through ads straightly through ads once I got my offer down at four hundred four hundred is actually not a hundred percent of that is through is through consulting some of that is through my own selling of my own physical products so it’s probably about half and a half between running my own online store and also through consulting but it was just through ads through perfecting my copy through perfecting you know the the image the image message audience combinations and one side once I really found those it was just make another good ad make another good ad make another good ad and keep expanding and and the more you know the more ads I make the more countries that I hit the more people I get to it just grows so quickly and the author is good enough that the ads you know before I struggled to have an ad run for four days without you know it died down now I have ads that have run for two months and they’re bringing in still they’re actually bringing in more money now than they were two months ago when I first started so really perfecting perfecting that offer and giving not only perfecting the offer but also giving people the results that they want has been you know what has just kept those ads going and me being able to introduce a new ad and then keep scaling it scaling that at introducing a new one and then you know I think I’ve got like about a hundred and twenty different ads running right now and they’re all doing well nice and then what are you driving those ads to like what funnel were using to sell your your offer so I’m using I’m using click funnels I just have a very basic landing page on there and what I’ve also done is I’ve created a semi a little bit of an online community so a lot of a lot of us right now has actually been strictly through organic growth I actually haven’t even I don’t I don’t feel like I’ve perfected it enough to be able to scale massively to the point where you know I’m I want it I want to scale up to seven figures but I want to perfect my offer you know before I start going bigger so a lot of it is I’ll bring people into my organic community and I have like free videos on how to like build a store and how to get started and stuff like that and then I’ll work them through almost an organic funnel I guess where I give them these free videos they learn a bit a little bit they ask me some questions you know maybe I’ll give them a little bit of a but advice and then I’ll basically pitch myself to them and show them some previous results and do it so my funnel right now is mostly to get them in touch with me so I can help them and I just pay money to get people into my community and that’s basically at the moment until I’ve kind of perfected my offer got it so you go so someone comes from a facebook head to a landing page yeah and then what are they opting in for they’re opting in for acts to my free training video so I’ve got a bunch of training videos like I said how to build your first website in e-commerce how to pick like some some cool products and stuff like that and then when they opt in they get those videos and then they also get direct access to my community and I use a I use a an app called discord I was originally for gamers but I’ve turned my discord of gamer community into more of a business community so then they joined there I do like you know weekly like ask me questions for like half an hour an hour just basically just really engaging with them as much as I can to try and give them as much value before you know because I think giving the giving value to people is a big thing if you can show them you know show them if they’re or help them understand if they’re interested in doing it or not it’s gonna be a lot better than just selling them you know hey I’m gonna make you more money so pay me hit me right now I’d rather get them interested in it to see if they’re interested in it and continuing it as at the end of the day you know if you have happy happy customers and it’s gonna be a lot better than if you just keep selling to people over and over and over so that’s really really what I’m trying to do I’m just trying to build a happy happy customer base before I really try and scale bigger call it so it’s discord kind of like a Facebook group thing yeah discord is very similar to i Skype I guess you’d say it’s this this is online chat community and you have all these different like text channels and like voice channels and stuff like that you can post like videos and the channels and people can go and watch them so yeah it’s pretty similar to a pretty similar to a Facebook group got it so they come to you they go you’re driving them from Facebook to a landing page they opt-in didn’t they come to you know a place where they’ve got some free training videos on the basics and they’re in a community now you can ask answer questions with them and everything and then when do when do you pitch them your offer we do make that offer to them I let them come to me almost almost everybody I’ve gotten at this point has come to me I found that pushing paper people into doing it you know as much as you can you can mention you know hey these are some of the services I offer and stuff like that if you I always found that if you try and push people on it they’re almost more more likely to not pay you where if you just allow that you show them why they need your service as opposed to trying to sell them your service does that’s my new big saying I tell people now is never try and sell someone your service convince them why they need your service and then they’ll buy it from you at that point what you’ve been having to ask them so I basically just let people come to me now and it’s worked a lot better than me constantly trying to you know offer my services to them so do you have to have like a call to action anywhere in the videos saying when you already asked me if you’re interested or anything how did I even know that you have something to offer just through just through organic talk through people in the community saying you know hey thanks for this you know the video is really good and then they’ll mention at other people everything everything after driving people to the community has been almost a hundred percent organic you know I’ll post a weekly video on like an explaining video on how to you know do something on the website or how to set up like your own web domain email or something like that I’ll do like a little like 10 minutes slides through a slideshow presentation on the reasons why you want to do it and then at the end of the video like you know if 500 people watch it maybe two people will be like hey do you have any more videos like I’d be willing to pay stuff like that I don’t even need to have a call-to-action I don’t even need to say you know I’m selling these services people have just been coming to me on their own and asking me got it so you mix your customers with your non customers in that community – yeah absolutely it’s how they know got it and then when they come to you like how do they come to you how does that technically happen um so it’s very similar to Facebook they can just message me on discord I got tons of messages I’ve been kind of working out words onto Instagram now to where I’ll post like people’s results or my own results on Instagram and stuff like that and I may get people messaging me on Instagram I get people some people messaging me on Facebook I’m very very easy to access I guess very easy to message so they can message me Dischord Facebook Instagram anything like that and then what’s the next step in the process from there I basically explain to them what what I can do for them whether it’s through recorded videos that I already have or whether it’s through one-on-one training when I wanted consulting I offer consulting on people who have stores and then I’ll go in and figure out how they can get more revenue from what they’re doing and then basically I’ll have I’ll have a strategy session with them if it’s something if it’s somebody that I think could benefit from it and I’ll lay out exactly what you know what can happen what I can do for them if I can help their business and then if I can or if I can just you know if I can just help them getting into it there’s so many different so many different aspects to it some people have stores some people don’t some people are interested in it and I’ll just have a 45 minute chat with them and if I can help them then I’ll let them know exactly how I can help them and if I can’t then that’s that got it so you actually advance from chat to phones yeah okay and then so you’ve got two things you basically offer one might be selling some pre-recorded videos and income like a program and the other might be like some actual consulting pipe how do you price both of those offers um so I priced them based off of basically the amount of time that I’m putting into it if it’s pre-recorded then I’m not putting you know consistently more and more and more time into it so pre-recorded stuff I sell it for fairly cheap just because it’s you know it’s already done I put the hundred dollars into it’s already done I’ll have to worry about it if I’m working with them one-on-one and I’m working maybe you say an hour two hours a day then I’ll price it a lot more just because I value my time you know if I spent two hours working on better ads and stuff like that I’m going to make pretty good money so any time I’m working one-on-one or you know consulting consulting their website or teaching them how to do something then I’ll price it a lot higher so what about numbers what about numbers I charge for the pre-recorded videos I charge around a thousand dollars for them and that gives them just over a hundred hours worth of content and like I said I’m planning on I want to I want to build like a massive e-commerce e-commerce program because I think there’s a huge disparity between the current gurus who are just in my eyes are just ripping people off because they’re selling this million-dollar dream to people who aren’t even in the position to make a million dollar dream happen so I want to make just a massive course of like two three four hundred five hundred hours or the content and then otherwise one-on-one I charge usually two hundred twenty-five dollars an hour for just like basic website consulting I’ll go in and look at their website and see what I can do to help them I don’t really like to do one-on-one consulting I’m starting to feel like it my time could be better used elsewhere what I do like to do is I like to do like full full like a one-month one-on-one training program where I work with them half an hour a day and for that I’ll charge like seventy five hundred to ten thousand dollars for that and that usually you know thirty minutes a days it’s that I believe is pretty much worth my time if I can do that how much were you saying you were selling an hour for an hour for was originally $225 but I’m trying to get out of that really quickly that’s crazy yeah make 400 grand you don’t hit this easy mess yeah it’s way more than that yeah yeah it’s just a mix of a mix of selling videos and and me working one-on-one and then also running my own stores and just applying everything to all three of those is just the overall revenue is skyrocketed so what’s the main driver in there like because usually what we see with anything is distribution is never normal you know distributions always always exponential there’s always something that it’s driving most of it like what’s the 80/20 in there product mix that’s driving this this 400k um the majority of that is a mix of the pre-recorded videos and then also my own personal online stores that I’m still running cuz I still the way I see it is the bigger I can grow my own stores the better I’m going to be able to help other people so I’m gonna I’m gonna do consulting for e-commerce industry businesses but I don’t think you know the more I can run my own business the better I can help other people so on top of consulting then also try and run my own e-commerce stores on the side and I think the better I get at that the better it’s going to be you know helping people in the future so I’ve the majority the money comes through my own store then pre-recorded videos I try and limit my my one-on-one as much as I can because I do value my time very like very highly when it comes to to running my own so wearing stuff like that it’s pretty easy just neither do one again yeah done ended yeah I’ve finally finally got to the point where I stopped being cheap and I hired people to run it for me that was another thing that held me back for a long time and I realized this now was it was just I was like why pay somebody 150 dollars a day when I can do it myself and make me extra hundred fifty dollars a day but I didn’t realize you know how much that eight hours of time could have got me somewhere else if I actually stopped playing video games started hiring somebody else and then worked on expanding one human doesn’t have that much tech note you know I like like to look at the biggest e-commerce store Amazon five hundred and sixty thousand people yeah five hundred this I still can’t get my head around that one there’s no so many people yeah I was just talking to a friend I was like I’ve got like nine employees now and I think that’s crazy to manage and I look at Amazon I’m like that they literally fill a city the amount of employees they have as a city a city worth of employees it’s crazy yeah it doesn’t say imagine that payroll when it took so through there would be one hell of a hell of a like chunk of money yeah every two weeks when the paychecks go hmm so let’s talk about cuz this is a good one like you know you’re making a so out of the four hundred grand a month like how much is from your own stores probably about half of that I’d say it would be from my own store as well the last month two hundred and fifty of there are two like two fifty two whatever that screenshot I posted was from my store and then the rest of it was all from consulting so it was about a hundred and fifty consulting and 250 I guess yeah 250 from the stores 150 from consulting so it’s like seventy seventy thirty sixty forty something like that so if you’re making like you know 70 30 and 70 percent in the income and you know how to do it why not just keep growing the store why teach I hate physical products I hate products there’s always issues with them and another the big driving factor for me is I really enjoy helping people make passive income I don’t know I don’t know what it is this is something really fulfilling about you know seeing and I noticed this with with helping friends because I’ve actually been able to help two friends start their own stores and start scaling back the hours that they work in stuff and I find that it’s very very very fulfilling to help other people get the the life sort of started that they want so it went you know the money is awesome and if I can scale an e-commerce store to a million dollars a month I’ll absolutely do that but if I can do that in consulting as well and and not only you know sell products but also help people create kind of the lifestyle and dream that they want I found that a lot more fulfilling than just selling physical products to people so that was kind of my reason to wine to swap to consulting got it and so I understand now you got you’re making like seventy percent of their revenue through your own stores and then you made the rest through consulting and the consulting is kind of a bit messy still it’s like oh yeah you might do some done for you well not really done for you but you might do some one-on-one or you might do like a package of like facili and a half grand or you might sell a course for like a grand yeah got it yeah I would I would recommend cleaning that up yeah I made a uniform homogeneous offering you know what I mean because that simplifies stuff mm-hmm this is what I’m selling this is what’s in it this is how it’s delivered this is its price mm-hmm never changes yeah that’s absolutely something that I’m trying to do it I’m just I’m at the point where I don’t feel like I have enough experience yet to really create that so I’m just trying to learn as much as I can and keep going and keep figuring out exactly what I’m gonna offer and keep narrowing it down and I mean four months ago five months ago when I was when I was offering consulting services it was way way more all over the place than it is now like I was I was working with chiropractors and stuff like that when I first started and then dentists and trying to reach out to all those people and I then I kind of hone Commerce and now once again I’m trying to to get even more narrowed in on exactly what I want to do but I think it all comes down to the more experience I get into it the more more I understand you know the more comfortable I get with with narrowing it in so I think there’s a bit of a learning process there that I still have to go through but it’s absolutely something that I’m going to be pushing for got it and one thing I’ve noticed is you know anyone can really get to like teen grand a month twenty grand a month anyone can really get to like even 40 grand a month but typically to get to like 400 grand a month or something you have to have you have to be uniquely different from from everyone that that sort of thing doesn’t really happen unless there’s some key point of difference so my with you I mean ecommerce is there’s a lot of people in there saying that they can help people with e-commerce there’s a lot of e-commerce stores like what makes you better than others I just found I found what worked I found what worked through the endless you know once I actually got rid of the addictions that were holding me back and I started focusing 16 hours a day on just researching the market and what is making successful e-commerce stores work as opposed to unsuccessful e-commerce stores and I spent tens of thousands of dollars on Facebook ads figuring out exactly how to do it for e-commerce and stuff like that I it was it was the obsession that made the difference it was the obsession of figuring out how these big stores you know are working well and e-commerce as much as there’s you know there’s thousands of people in it there’s tons there’s tons of competition there’s so much space in e-commerce e-commerce is like I think it’s just over a two trillion dollar industry now so to make $200,000 a month on an e-commerce store is not unrealistic because it’s such a massive industry you just have to be obsessed enough to figure out exactly what works and what doesn’t work especially when it comes to competing so for me the difference I had no technical skills I come from I never went to university and I never went to college I played football I played sports growing up so it was literally just the change of life lifestyle and then the obsession of making my business is perfect as I possibly can which is where the difference came and there was nothing you know crazy technical or any you know eight years of schooling that I went through to do that those people have jobs yeah so what is it like what makes it what makes a great ecommerce business like what of what areas of focus do you put your attention into to really make yours perform customers taking care of your customers that was it that was that was the big difference when I first started e-commerce might my focus was sell products that was it it was same thing as everybody else find a product throw it on a Facebook ad with you know some scarcity of 50% off for the next 48 hours here’s the product buy it from me flashy ad stuff like that and that was I think that’s what a lot of people do but my the big difference for me was care about your customers if you care about your customers you understand their emotional drives you understand why they would want your product if you stopped selling products to people people start buying products it’s like the weirdest the weirdest thought if you if you stop trying to sell is when people start pieces people start buying I don’t even my ads now I have the time I don’t even try and sell a product I’ll just explain what it is you know what it why somebody might want to have it and I won’t even have like half of my call to actions I use or just learn more and it’ll just drive them to a landing page where they learn about the product and caring about the customer I think is the number one mistake that people make people focus so much on selling products selling products and selling products instead of just convincing people why they need the product and as soon as I did that as soon as I cared about the customers everything changed so what does caring about customers mean um good customer service being being straightforward with them good shipping times a lot of people will try and get as much profit as they can by cutting down on shipping you know they’ll make shipping times super long by not paying extra five bucks to have it delivered properly stuff like good customer support a lot of people will ignore emails for two three days people will get worried they won’t trust you stuff like that so just using I stopped using Facebook to sell trot and I started using Facebook to acquire customers and I use my ads now to build a relationship and I build a trust with people and then when that happens you start to notice that people will buy from you over and over and over and over so instead of constantly trying to sell a product and then find a new customer I’m just trying to sell new products to the same customers because I’ve built such a trusting relationship with them I’ve delivered good products it’s been on time you know they’ve got tracking numbers they’ve I respond to their emails if any one of them has an issue with their order if it’s broken I’ll refund the most of them a new one anything like that just building building the best relationship with a customer and not trying to make money off of them is where you start to make money it’s the weirdest thing yeah well it’s like you have to make something because otherwise you know you cease to exist and if you cease to exist you can’t help anybody so yeah is a balance you know it’s like you’ve got to survive but then you don’t be a dick mhm yeah absolutely not not being a dick is very very helpful cool so you see it you know that the mindset stuff was was helpful like what would you say has been like the most impactful part of going through this training like what what one piece of it has had the most of an impact on you and how allowed you to to achieve this the funniest the funniest thing of all is making my bed when I wake up in the morning I don’t know why I don’t know if it’s just I mean obviously you talked about it you talked about how how it sets your your your mood for the day or your goals for the day when you start off and you just do something you know do something productive the second you wake up and doing just doing something so simple like that it completely changed my entire outlook on my day because instead of I used to wake up and I’d go on my phone and I sit my bed and I’d be there’s like 45 minutes now I wake up it’s like before I can do anything I go and make my bed and that puts me in this productive mode where you know I’m not half the time now I forget where my phone is I used to be it used to be on my side I used to be in my pocket it used to be on my desk I tax if I got messages anything like that now I do I forget about my phone half the time I turn it off it’s on you know do not disturb for ten hours of the day I get up and make my bed and I just kind of have that routine where I set my mind right the second I wake up and then I’ve noticed that the the just the daily distractions that I normally had when I didn’t do that have completely faded away cuz it’s not really a focus anymore and then in the end of the day I can go you know into my room and I see a nicely made bed so no matter how difficult you know or bad of a day I had if everything failed everything went sideways I go to my bed and there’s still something stuffs there’s something positive something productive that I still got done that day no matter what happens yeah I would argue that having forgetting wheel phoners would probably be more of a driver towards the success to making a bed that’s when you know you’re doing well when you get where your phone is yeah when you’re glued on that thing I mean yeah there’s what like most people who are failing they’re doing they’re just like yeah they can’t take their eyes off the damn thing yeah when I worked through that worksheet of like breaking down what I did hourly and I find that I’d passively spend three hours on Facebook you know three hours between Facebook and Instagram and it doesn’t feel like it when you do that cuz you’re on it you know fifteen minutes you watch a couple videos fifteen minutes goes by you do it again two hours later when you actually go back and look at it and not only not only do you waste three hours in your day when you do that but you also you’re your focus changes because even though you watch a video for four five minutes your focus changes from being in the zone working on what you’re doing to you know you can you watched a funny video for five minutes and it kind of changes how focused you are on what your next task is so getting rid of the phone getting rid of you know making your bed when you wake up all that sort of stuff is all and another big one was was realizing kind of where my where my lows and my eyes were you know I noticed a lot that if my my desk was too messy if my room was too messy if I’d had you know dishes stuff like that I would it wouldn’t really take my focus away but inside me I felt that there was this inner annoyance that I to do something else even you know if my nails get too long it’ll annoy me so I have to make sure everything is at its highest point and once it’s there like there’s no there’s no inner worry of messy bedroom messy desk you know not really hygienic half the time I wouldn’t even shower for like three four days because I you know if I was at home playing video games for you know I wasn’t working on anything I would just play video games for four days and then I’d have this inner annoyance where I was like you know I’m I’m dirty I’m not really hygienic you know there’s dishes my beds my rooms messy my bed’s messy stuff like that so there’s all these little things that I noticed were not necessarily up front but they are in the back your mind somewhere there’s there’s something in there that is you know holding you back from something because you feel like this there’s so much other messy things in your life that could be taken ayer keroh should be taken care of and once I figured out those highs in those lows if I keep them at the highs now then everything else seems to go really smooth so you just increase your standards basically yeah well you’re not willing to tolerate that anymore yeah yeah as soon as the standards increased everything else increases same with money you know I used to be like if I got two grand in my bank account like I’m going to the bar and I’m spending 400 bucks cuz I got you know two thousand dollars in my bank now if I have like literally hi I was at the point where I paid paid taxes and I had like under a hundred thousand dollars in my bank and I was literally stressing out I was like oh my goodness I need to get on it so my standards completely changed as soon as I started realizing where the highs were now I have new highs and I’m constantly trying to set my standards higher and higher and higher and it it brings out this driving me now that I have to reach these higher standards and it just comes to the point where it’s it’s not even not even really work it’s just something that I have to do got it and so what part of like the mindset training really woke you up the most and was in and made you change because I mean you were ingrained in a pretty strong habit before like how what specific piece of that mindset training made you want to change and actually change um that’s a tough one because there’s there’s a lot of it I think I watched those each one of those mindset video like four or five times sometimes I just you know sit in my car for four hours and I just watch two of them over and over again anyone in particular I would I would say that I would say the highs and the lows when it came to when it came to my mind I think that would that’s probably probably the biggest one because I really related to to my addictions actually my video game addictions and I I made this connection fortunately early on and what I realized that when I was in a state of being low so if my room was messy or if my desk was messy then I didn’t really want to make a sales call because in the back of my mind my own life wasn’t in shape so how can I help somebody else’s life so I’d get I’d feel negative and then my I guess my comfort zone was going to play video games because video games it allowed me to forget about everything else there was no focus on negative life no focus on you know if something went wrong and then I’d go and play video games so when I I realized when I tried to try to quit video games in the past I hadn’t fixed those areas in my life that was highs and lows in my life so anytime I was in a low I would go and play video games for sixteen hours because that was my escape from dealing with the reality of my room is messy my desk is messy you know I haven’t made much money this week or anything like that so I would resort to video games and then as soon as I switched that where I focused on always being at my highest point I lost that that need to go into this comfort zone because I was in a comfort zone as soon as I didn’t you know my room was clean desk clean I’m making money I’m in a comfort zone so I don’t need to resort to escaping my life by playing video games for sixteen hours because my life was in a comfort zone and then it was easy you know I was ready to make sales calls I was ready to talk to people ready to shoot a video ready to to work on my ads and anything like that because I didn’t have to resort to escaping that escaping into that comfort zone so I think that the highs and the lows and really figuring those out and how they affect me emotionally and negatively was probably probably the biggest change got it because here they call there’s like an actual video game called sea in life mm-hmm and there’s people in there that that’s kind of what videogames I’ve realized it’s like we in people ever should eat real life you know they pretty much go get a second life they can be they can be some pixels you know if they’re fat they can find a skinny avatar they even beat and have a six-pack they can have hot girlfriend they can ever mansion and then like they’re just sitting in this messy room yeah and like it’s like weenie when their life sucks they just let go of it they’re like squirrel just have a good life over here and those people who cares about them because my real life’s here so you just basically when your life got bad you would disassociate with real life go to that one yeah because you could win there you know but when you were winning in that one this you just went kind of went back to just having one life and trying to make that your game yeah yeah and it was it was crazy it’s looking back on it now it’s crazy because it was like you know spending 16 hours figuring out this this virtual life whereas I could have been doing on my own but I mean it definitely was a good thing in my eyes now I when I went back into my life and I looked at all the negatives and I turned them into a positive that now I look as a positive because it taught me the obsession that you need to have to be successful but yeah absolutely video games to me now are just an escape from reality basically and once you figure out how to make your reality comfortable and happy then you don’t have to find that other escape product and you just one thing you just sit there knows like you know it taught you the obsession you needed to be successful in business and I definitely think that this is something that a lot of people don’t get it’s there like if you want to do really well it’s not as the secret is just to be obsessed you and then you find the secrets but like there isn’t one specific thing other than that that is the thing so like for a lot of people I’m sure they want to get more driven they want to get more obsessed like how can they do that how can they get really into something to the point that you are where they just master at all and they’re able to make such big growth honestly the change for me was was finding what I was really interested in and not not focusing on making money but focusing on being obsessed with something that interested me and then turning that into making money I think I think for me um and I I’m a huge follower of like Arnold Schwarzenegger and stuff like that and he one of one of the advice that he gives is to find find a bigger goal that will make the the small tasks seem like nothing so when he wanted to become you know this world famous actor and this world famous bodybuilder he hated going to the gym he didn’t he didn’t you know nobody likes going to the gym nobody likes putting in 16 hours worth of work it’s it that’s that sort of stuff really sucks but when you have that bigger goal then every single day you do it you do it with a smile on your face because you know you’re getting closer to that bigger goal so I I personally I want to be an actor I love acting I would love to be in some some awesome movies so me setting my life up now is going to help me do that later so that that bigger goal that bit your passion that I have isn’t necessarily being you know a multi-million dollar ecommerce owner or consultants or anything like that but utilizing that is is in my eyes my path to setting myself up for you know having the ability to go and train and acting and stuff like that and have the money to to to become an actor and I moved to LA or something like that so working 16 hours a day making money on ecommerce or in consulting or anything like that it doesn’t seem like work anymore because I can do it happily knowing that I have this bigger goal in mind in the future that I’m working towards so I I would say you know if you’re having if you’re having issues with with working hard and being obsessed with something find find a reason for that to be a good thing find a bigger goal that that’s going to help you work towards and achieve it then it doesn’t matter what it is whatever whatever you want to do in your life you can utilize how you’re making money or whatever your business is to get to that goal and then you know every single day if you focus on that that dream or that that accomplishment then it’s just going to be easy to get through it on a daily basis and be obsessive because you’re not necessarily obsessive with the we’re going to the gym I hate going to the gym but I want to look good so I could be an actor so I can be obsessive with making my body look good so find that bigger goal that’s what I would say got it and why acting that came out of the blue acting I think I guess it kind of goes back to my to my personal life out of the past I find actors when I was when I was down like you know if I was negative if I was having a rough week or a rough month I found actors and movies and stuff like that in general really helped me connect my emotions to whatever I was feeling or anything like that and it would help me just kind of expect I guess express myself or whatever if I was having a bad day that would make me laugh so I’m I’m really big on helping other people connect with emotions like you know someone’s having a bad day I like to make them laugh I’m always kind of a guy who’s joking around and making people laugh and stuff like that I really want to one day get myself into a position where I can do that on a global scale and kind of have that that effect that that it had on me in the past where if I had a bad day I could go and watch a movie and get a good laugh out of it or something like that and escape into that world so I find I find acting really really interesting because not only it’s really cool to experience basically becoming a different person which is really cool because you wouldn’t normally do that especially if you’re like you know some some psychopath I I hope I’m not a psychopath in real life but if I can go and do that in a movie and experience a different range of emotions in different you know it it just gives me it really gives you a really interesting outlook on life when you experience things from different areas and then also help other people experience that so yeah as along there’s a long story as to why I want to become an actor got it and what would your you know you’ve been in the program for about a year you’ve made a huge transformation I’m sure I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of the other members in the Facebook group in the things they’re struggling with and all of that like what would your number one piece of advice be for them cut out the distractions cut out the distractions as much as you love your phone and you love social media and you love you know going out to the bar I used to go to the bar like every bloody weekend and I’d spend two three hundred bucks and I’d be hungover the next morning and not be able to do anything if you get rid of the distractions and you just focus on what’s important you don’t need skills you don’t need to have you know you don’t need eight years of schooling you don’t need ten years of experience and I can’t stress this enough is if you just do it you’ll get there it doesn’t matter you’ll learn the skills you’ll you’ll learn what’s required you’ll get the experience all of that you just have to go and do it so the quicker you cut out the distractions and you and you focus on what’s important the quicker it’s going to happen what did you find the big distractions were because I found number one was definitely the alcohol like you see it yeah huge me and that one takes like three days out of your week oh yeah you got your phone and social media huge put the phone in airplane mode put it away what else have we got video games big 100% if you’re somebody who plays video games video games I mean they’re fine they’re fine in their own in their own way in their own place but if you’re somebody who plays too much video games you got to get rid of them it’s just it is how it is another big one is the people in your life I had a lot of people in my life who were constantly trying to get me to go out and do things play video games all that sort of stuff so I had to kind of you know I’m still friends with them but I don’t do all that stuff with them anymore so I found new people who were passionate about e-commerce passionate about business passionate about being an entrepreneur being a consultant whatever and I started hanging more with them and once I once I got them into you know once I got into a circle with them then on a weekend I wouldn’t go out and drink I would go over to their house and we’d work on e-commerce or we work on consulting or we work on marketing or anything like that so it was just a shift of people shifting a shift and people and who you hang out with and I never really noticed that until actually wouldn’t ride it it was crazy before I was always like you know whatever I got my friends I’ll go party with them on the weekend no big deal and I get back to work and it doesn’t it doesn’t work like that at all when you have you know friends who are who are constantly in this it’s nothing against them there is there lies that’s what they have fun doing but if it’s holding you back then you have to disassociate yourself with stuff like that if you truly want to make a business then you have to have friends who also truly want to make a business because that’s how you’re gonna you know start focusing more on business and stuff like that so video games definitely phone definitely a social media huge one unless I only use social media really now for for business aspects I’m on Facebook if I’m on Facebook it’s for either talking to people organically who have messaged me or for for ABS half the time you know I won’t even respond to messages from friends for like three four days because I just I don’t I have everything I don’t even have it on my phone anymore and the messenger that I do have I always have muted so I’ll go and check it like every every couple days if I have to social media big one yeah I think social media people video games alcohol alcohol is huge I almost completely stop drinking alcohol now it’s probably more of a training program than any other training program just telling you good to do that he’s gonna be yeah yeah cuz well yeah what the hell else is the dude gonna be doing you goes his whole life yeah so now he’s gonna be sitting on the couch being like what do I do what do we do yeah he’s probably gonna end up rich by mistake yeah it’s weird thinking about it cuz like I said I have no skills I didn’t go to school I played football I played sports for four six years I got a sports and I was like working or a house job and stuff like that and I’m the classic example of somebody who you know if somebody looked at me now they’re like oh you know he was born rich or you know he went he got school paid for or whatever and I was like no I just stopped doing the bad things and started doing the good things and everything just it wouldn’t say it fell into place I figured out how to do it so you cut that stuff out and it’ll just come to you naturally one thing you sit there which is important is you know you can’t just try and do the good things while keeping the bad things because there’s nothing left right mmm but you actually the way to do it you is to get rid of the bad things and then the good ones happen you know that has to happen in their order you can’t like start your business while still getting drunk and playing all of that now and then balance it and then let it go later you’ve got to give that up day one yeah yeah you have to change yourself before you can change your business absolutely I mean I’ve tried to start businesses for probably since I was like 18 19 and I never ever had anything successful and I realized that now because it was it was never a focus it was those bad things in my life that were the focus and that’s why nothing worked and I always made the excuses like uh too much competition or this guy has more schooling than me or this guy has more capital to start the business with me the business that I started the the e-commerce business that I started that that’s that did 250,000 last month I started with $300 and before it was always like oh this guy had a bigger budget than me that was why he’s more successful so yeah absolutely and till you until you cut those things out of your life you know you don’t need technical skills you don’t need to go and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars getting technical skills at a school that’s not going to help you because at the end of the day you’re mindsets still going to suck and you’re still going to be drinking you’re still going to be partying you’re still gonna be you know distracting yourself with all these other things agreed that’s pretty much what college is it’s pretty much just certificate beer-drinking yeah yeah I was bloody good at it from quality oh it’s what I got real good at oh yeah me go to college but I went to college parties cool man well thanks a lot for jumping on and sharing your story I’m sure it’s going to help a lot of people who are interested in getting started in business get started and also people who are already in the program to to go to that next level and I really like the part about you know cutting those things out if you’re a dude and you’re around our age I’m 28 what you’re 24 through 400 yeah so any dude who’s pretty much between eighteen and like probably even 50 it’s probably probably going to be having these issues oh yeah so if you just get rid of those then that like what else is going to happen you know like you’re you’re going to pick up a constructive habit because there’s and you’re going to get good at it because that there’s
